Greg Sherman is the Deputy Assistant Secretary and Assistant Director, High Threat Programs Directorate within the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS/HTP). He was previously the Office Director for Special Programs within DS/HTP, starting in August 2017. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, he most recently held positions in the Office of Physical Security Programs (DS/C/PSP) and the Physical Security Division (DS/PSP/PSD).
Prior to joining the Department, Greg served as a police officer in Columbia, South Carolina. Greg joined the Foreign Service in 1997 and has served as Regional Security Officer at U.S. Embassies in Moldova and Singapore. His other overseas postings include Oman, Afghanistan, and as DS Liaison Officer to the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) in Stuttgart, Germany. His prior domestic service includes Diplomatic Security’s Boston Field Office (DS/FLD/BFO) and as the Resident Agent-in-Charge of the Greensboro Resident Office (DS/WFO/GNRO).
Born and raised in San Diego, California, Greg holds a Bachelors degree from the University of California, Davis and a Master of Criminal Justice degree from the University of South Carolina.
