  • BACKGROUND: Driven by a new generation of companies at the intersection of manufacturing, technology, and design, Brooklyn’s manufacturing sector is booming. Over the past decade, Brooklyn has added thousands of well-paying jobs for New Yorkers, helped diversify the borough’s economy, and given Brooklyn an important competitive advantage in a part of the economy that is expected to grow significantly in the years ahead.

    On this tour, journalists will speak with David Ehrenberg, the President and CEO of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation and Johanna Greenbaum, the Chief Development Officer. The Yard is an industrial park that is a nationally acclaimed model of the viability and positive impact of modern, urban industrial development. The Yard is home to over 400 businesses employing more than 10,000 people and generating over $2 billion per year in economic impact for the city.

    Journalists will tour the facility, including the food manufacturing market in Building 77, New Lab, a tech accelerator, and are welcome to ride the Yard’s autonomous vehicle which shuttles passengers around the campus.
