Office of Counterproliferation Initiatives

Our Mission

The Office of Counterproliferation Initiatives leads efforts to develop, implement, and improve counterproliferation policies, which are designed to impede the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. It works closely with the White House and other agencies, including the Departments of Defense, Treasury, Commerce, Homeland Security, and Justice, and with the intelligence community, to develop and implement appropriate diplomatic, defense, law enforcement, and rapid response options, and other international measures designed to combat the proliferation of WMD.
