Our Mission

The Special Envoy maximizes U.S. diplomatic efforts to address the threat of Violent Extremist Organizations (VEOs) in the Sahel and prevent the VEO threat from extending into additional areas. Through regular contact with regional leaders and in collaboration with representatives of partner nations and organizations, the Special Envoy engages actively in support of governance, political liberalization, economic growth and development to achieve long-term peace and stability in the region.
