We provide clear and accurate understanding of policy and American values to global audiences via first-hand access. The United States Department of State has Foreign Press Centers in Washington, D.C. and New York. The Foreign Press Centers support U.S. policies by helping foreign media cover the U.S. We promote the depth, accuracy, and balance of foreign reporting from the U.S. by providing direct access to authoritative American information sources.

Media Co-Ops

Media Co-Ops provide a small team of broadcasters – typically a reporter and a cameraman – an opportunity to report on the United States from the United States. Developed through their local U.S. embassies on topics of mutual interest, these co-ops enable broadcasters to travel throughout the country to interview the policymakers, activists, professionals and everyday citizens that will help them tell our story through their lens.

Reporting Tours

The FPCs work to promote accuracy, objectivity, and balance in foreign media coverage of issues of strategic importance to the United States. We engage directly with foreign media to advance U.S. foreign policy priorities by providing them with direct access to authoritative sources of information.

Credentialing

The Foreign Press Centers (FPC) issue its own press credential that is recognized by various organizations in the area and allows access to FPC facilities and services in Washington, DC and New York, NY. The FPC credential is typically valid for three years and renewable at the end of that period for members of the media on continuing assignment in the United States.
