Escuela Campo Alegre, founded in 1937, is a private, coeducational school offering a program for students from nursery (3-year-olds) through grade 12. The school year is comprised of two semesters extending from August to June.

Organization: The school is governed by a self-perpetuating board of directors, which has eight members including the superintendent.

Curriculum: The curriculum is similar to that of a U.S., college-preparatory school, with additional emphasis placed on the Spanish language and the history and culture of Latin America, especially Venezuela. All instruction is given in English. The curriculum also emphasizes the use of technology, problem-solving, and authentic assessment. The full International Baccalaureate (IB) Program is offered for students in grades 11 and 12. A full range of extracurricular activities is available. The school is accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) and the Council of International Schools (CIS). A great majority of the graduates go on to universities in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Faculty: In the 2020-2021 school year, there are 3 administrators, and the 42 faculty members.

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, enrollment was 175.

Facilities: Located on Calle La Cinta, in the “Urbanizacion of Las Mercedes”, the school is in a central, easily accessible environment which is removed from the daily congestion of Caracas. Campo Alegre’s physical plant comprises 77 classrooms, purpose-built science labs, music, art and technology centers, a 630-seat theater/auditorium, an artificial turf soccer field with a playing area of 50 meters by 100 meters, five gymnasiums with two climbing walls, a totally new playground area for elementary students, and a weight room. In addition, there is a state-of-the-art gym that can be separated into 3 different physical education classrooms if needed or fully open for an international tournament that can seat 560 people, as well as a fitness center, a swimming pool, tennis courts, a cafeteria, two fully-equipped multipurpose meeting areas, and a library/media center with over 25,000 cataloged items. The early childhood building has eight new 100 square meter classrooms that make them very comfortable for learning, an art room, a music room, a ballet room, a multipurpose room, an early childhood library, and an early childhood kitchen. Finances: In the 2020-2021 school year, the school’s income derives from tuition. Annual tuition rates are as follows: nursery: $11,350; PK-grade 5: $21,950; grades 6-10: $27,500; grade 11: $28,300; and grade 12: $29,500. (All fees quoted in U.S. dollars.)
