The International School of Hyderabad is an independent, not-for-profit, coeducational day school offering an educational program from early childhood to grade 12. ISH is a mission driven school which is deliberately diverse and admissions are based on a “right fit” approach with a belief in the ISH philosophy of inquiry based and collaborative learning. The school year is comprised of two semesters:  mid-August to mid-December and early January to mid-June.

Organization: ISH is under the trusteeship of the International Crop Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), a UN sponsored organization.  The self-perpetuating ISH School Board consists of seven members which includes a representative of ICRISAT and a U.S. Consulate representative.  The remaining five members are selected from the ISH parent community.

Curriculum: The Early Childhood to Grade 8 curriculum is U.S. standards-based in all subjects.  In grades 9 and 10 students study the IGCSE and in Grades 11 and 12 the IB Diploma Program is offered as well as the ISHDP, an accredited U.S. credit-based high school diploma .  Spanish is taught from grade 3 and French is taught as a beginner language at the IB level. Extracurricular activities include basketball, soccer, volleyball, cricket and swimming.  ISH participates in a sports league, ISACI, enabling competition with other international schools in India.  The school is a member of the Common Ground Collaborative and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

Faculty: In the 2020–2021 school year, there are 59 faculty members.

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2020–2021 school year, enrollment was 375 (KG–grade 5: 180; grades 6–8: 95; and grades 9–12: 100). This number was down from 425 owing to COVID-19.

Facilities: The main ICRISAT campus stretches for 3,600 acres with the school campus nestled in a corner of 10 acres. Being located on the ICRISAT campus provides ISH students with extraordinary access to nature and most unusual learning environments, with science labs, a museum, a medieval fort, a weather station, a mosque, a temple, and a church. The school campus houses science laboratories, music rooms, a library, art rooms, language rooms, and multiple outside areas for learning and exercise. Facilities at ISH includes football fields, a cricket pitch, an outdoor covered area, and an indoor, multipurpose gym. The ICRISAT campus offers opportunities for other outdoor pursuits including a swimming pool, tennis courts, cross-country running, and cycling.

Finances: In the 2020–2021 school year, 99% of the school’s income derives from regular day school tuition and application and capital fees. Annual tuition rates are as follows: kindergarten 1 and 2: $9,104; grades 1-5: $9,778; grades 6–10: $12,475; and grades 11‑12: $14,161.
