The International School of Prague (ISP) is an independent, coeducational day school which offers an educational program from pre-kindergarten through grade 12 for students of all nationalities. The school was founded in 1948. The school year extends from late August to mid-June.

Organization: The school is governed by an 11-member volunteer board of directors, two of whom are elected by the parents of children enrolled, eight of whom are elected by the Board, and one of whom is appointed by the U.S. Ambassador.

Curriculum: The international curriculum is aligned to that of U.S. private schools, meeting the needs of learners from many different countries. ISP has an articulated, mission-driven PK-12 curriculum, rooted in inquiry where learners are involved in posing and investigating questions. Our learning program offers students the lifelong understandings and skills that enable them to be successful at ISP and in their educational and professional pursuits in the future. Instruction is in English. The School offers the following modern languages: Czech, French, German, Spanish, and Mandarin. English-as-an-additional-language is also offered. ISP offers students the opportunity to obtain International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) and/or IBDP course certificates while earning an ISP high school diploma. Committed to continuous improvement, ISP is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS). ISP is also authorized by the Czech Ministry of Education to educate foreign nationals and Czech citizens.

Faculty: In the 2020-2021 school year, there are 107 full-time and 12 part-time Faculty members, and 11 administrators.

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, enrollment was 842 (PK-grade 5: 311; grades 6-8: 230; and grades 9-12: 301).

Facilities: ISP is located in a purpose-built facility set in the natural beauty of the valley on the outskirts of Prague. The single purpose-built campus, where all sections of the school are located, includes a modern library with an attached technology focused “Idea Lab”, two gymnasia, a theater, a cafeteria with hot lunch service, age-appropriate playgrounds, outside basketball and tennis courts, and two all-weather soccer fields. The entire campus benefits from Wi-Fi and technology integrated in the school curriculum, with iPads for lower elementary students and personal laptops available to students throughout middle and upper school.

Finances: In the 2020-2021 school year, the School’s income derives from regular day school tuition and registration fees. Annual tuition rates are as follows: PK3: €13,440; PK4: €13,440, K-grade 5: €17,750; grades 6-8: €19,230; grades 9-10: €21,000, and grade 11-12: €21,670. Capital assessment fees (CAF) are €1,500 for PK3 and PK4 and €3,000 for K-grade 12. There is a non-refundable application fee of €350. In addition to the tuition and CAF listed above, new students pay a newcomers’ fee of €2,000 (Kindergarten through grade 12). New students entering in PK do not pay a newcomers’ fee, but will pay the newcomers’ fee in subsequent years when they move up to Kindergarten.

Information and statistics are current as of October 2020 and are provided by the school.
