Rodolfo McTurk-Mora is the former head of Interpol in Venezuela.
Through his position as the head of Interpol, McTurk-Mora allegedly solicited bribes from traffickers
arrested in Venezuela to prevent their extradition. Specifically, McTurk-Mora allegedly conspired with a
Venezuelan judge/prosecutor to obstruct justice by accepting bribes, which allowed Colombian
narcotics trafficker Jamie Alberto Marin-Zamora to remain in Venezuela and continue his narcotics
trafficking activities even after the United States issued a Red Notice for the capture of Marin-Zamora.
Marin-Zamora, the leader of the Norte de Valle Cartel at the time, had been arrested by Venezuelan
authorities on Margarita Island in 2010. (Marin-Zamora, formerly designated under the Narcotics
Rewards Program, has since been extradited to the United States and convicted of drug trafficking
In 2013, McTurk-Mora was indicted in the Southern District of Florida. McTurk-Mora was charged with
conspiracy to import cocaine into the U.S., importation of cocaine into the U.S., possession with intent
to distribute cocaine, as well as corrupting and impeding an official proceeding in violation of 21 U.S.
Code 959(a)(2), 21 U.S. Code 959(b)(1)(B), 21 U.S. Code 963, and 18 U.S. Code 1512(k). McTurk-Mora
remains a fugitive from justice.
The U.S. Department of State is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to the
arrest and/or conviction of Rodolfo McTurk-Mora for participating in international narcotics trafficking.
