The U.S.-led Call to Action on Women’s Economic Empowerment encourages countries to advance women’s economic empowerment to address legal barriers to women’s economic participation. This Call to Action is an opportunity for coordinated action to ensure women are empowered to drive the COVID-19 global response and the economic recovery.
Today, more than ever, it is critically important to ensure women are afforded every opportunity to contribute to the rebuilding of our global economy. When women are economically empowered, they reinvest back into their families and communities, producing a multiplier effect that spurs economic growth and creates societies that are more peaceful.
